Shell Nigeria awards Applus + for their commitment to the Goal Zero program

12/05/2016
Shell, a global energy company with a presence in over 70 countries, recognizes and appreciates the commitment of Applus+ Nigeria towards its Goal Zero program ambition to ensure that no harm and no leaks occur in their operations.
Shell, which is characterized by working closely with its customers and partners to get more efficient and sustainable use of energy and natural resources, focuses in achieving Goal Zero program objectives in three security areas where higher risk situations occur: personal, process, and transport safety. To achieve this, Applus+ works tirelessly with Shell to strengthen our safety culture, focusing on the care of people and complemented by our most competent technicians.

Thanks to the good work done, on April 1st 2016 the Country Manager of Applus+ Nigeria, Francis Amadhe and Lagos and Warri teams received a personal mention from their client SNEPCO (Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company). The award refers to the inspection services provided by Applus+ on the FPSO Bonga. The award received states:

“The vendor has continuously ensured quality delivery in all activities, undertaking high-risk activities involving work at height and management of radioactive source, while ensuring goal zero targets are not compromised.

Over 3000 man hours YTD on Bonga without LTI. Over 25,000 man hours in 2015 without LTI and goal zero violation.”

This contract with Shell started in 2014 and was initially supported by foreign inspectors and technical experts assisted by Applus+ Nigeria technicians. At present the team of Applus+ is committed to ACFM, UT and Incotest inspections, carrying out the work at height, to IRATA standards. The Applus+ team currently working on this project now comprises local inspectors and technicians, previously trained by experts from Applus+.

This recognition by a global client such as Shell, not only shows the Applus+ group’s commitment to Health and Safety, but also to investing in the local workforce to develop skills and capabilities.

On behalf of the group, we would like to pass on congratulations to Francis and the whole team of Applus+ Nigeria and thank them for their commitment to the principles that underlie the vision of the Applus+ group.
