Barcelona, January 21st of 2016.- Applus+, a global testing, inspection and certification company, advances its strategy in key markets and activities with the acquisition of the Australian company Aerial Photography Specialist (APS), specialised in unmanned aerial vehicle (drones) inspection.
This acquisition is a response to the increasing demand for drone inspection as a complement or alternative to more traditional forms of inspection across a range of industries including energy, power, mining and other industrial plants and infrastructure.
APS develops its own technology offering custom built remote visual access inspection techniques. It provides services of aerial photography, topography and infrared imagery and holds accreditations to operate for different clients. Aerial Photography Specialist’s prior year annual revenue was 1.4 million Australian dollars (€0.9 million) and the business will join the Applus+ Energy & Industry división.
“We are pleased to have made this acquisition. It demonstrates our commitment to offering a wide range of inspection techniques and innovative products that in this challenging energy market provides our customers with a new and efficient technology.” said Fernando Basabe, CEO of Applus+.
