Madrid, 30 October 2019 - Applus+, a leading company in testing, inspection and certification, has strengthened its presence in Chile with the acquisition of 100% of LEM Laboratories, dedicated to the testing and inspection of materials for civil engineering projects in mining, construction and the industrial sector. Founded in 2009, the company has a turnover of over € 8 million and around 200 employees working from three laboratories in the north of Chile (Calama, Antofagasta and Copiapó), complementing the current presence of Applus+ in the country.

Applus+ has been operating in Chile since 1999 and now employs over 500 people across three divisions: Energy & Industry, Automotive and Laboratories. This latest acquisition increases the portfolio of services offered by the Energy & Industry division in the mining and construction sectors in Latin America.

LEM Laboratories counts some of Chile’s biggest companies in the infrastructure, construction and mining sectors among its clients, allowing Applus+ to complement the other industrial services currently offered in the country and the other laboratories located in other continents.

Fernando Basabe, CEO of Applus+, noted that: “this acquisition will allow us to grow further in Latin America, and thus strengthen our presence in the mining and construction sector in the whole region.”
