The Applus+ Energy & Industry Division has won the contract to provide Adif, the state-owned company responsible for most of Spain’s rail infrastructure, with services pertaining to the inspection of the electrical traction substations on its conventional network. The project launched in November 2019 and will run for 24 months.

Applus+ was chosen primarily thanks to its broad geographical presence and its ability to provide a coordinated service in various locations around the country at the same time. The main aim of the project is to ascertain the condition of the substations and so avoid any interruptions to service or the adoption of unwarranted preventive measures. According to Spain’s industrial safety regulation, it is mandatory to carry out this kind of regulatory inspection on a periodic basis to assess substation safety, efficiency and conformity under Royal Decree 337/2014. Applus+, as an accredited inspection body (OCA) through Applus Norcontrol S.L.U., is authorised to provide such a service.

With its vast knowledge and experience in the field of regulatory inspections, Applus+ can help its clients to ensure the safety, quality and normal operation of its substations, thereby avoiding any alterations to associated services.
