Madrid, May 31st, 2022.- Enertis Applus+, a global consulting, engineering and quality control firm, reference in the renewable energy and storage sectors, has been appointed as Owner’s Engineer for three solar photovoltaic plants property of RWE Renewables. These solar PV plants, located in Spain, have a total capacity of 112 MW and are currently under construction. The Owner’s Engineering services are provided during the design, planning, construction, and commissioning phases, in order to ensure the projects’ quality throughout their lifetime.

The three solar PV projects are located in the Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura regions. The Casa Valdés and Puerta del Sol plants, with an installed capacity of 50 MWdc each, have bifacial photovoltaic modules and are expected to be commissioned in the summer. Once fully commissioned, these solar farms will be able to supply green electricity to the equivalent of approximately 61,000 homes. The 12 MWdc Las Vaguadas plant has an electricity production capacity of up to 25 GWh per year, equivalent to the energy needed to supply a town of around 21,000 inhabitants for a year. The plant is expected to be commissioned from the second half of 2022.

So far, Enertis Applus+ has reviewed the detailed engineering for these three solar photovoltaic projects, which includes site studies, feasibility studies and a review of the main components to verify their suitability for the projects.

The firm is currently supervising the construction phase of the three projects, with a team of on-site qualified experts and specialists that are supported by a multidisciplinary back-office team that verifies compliance with technical and quality requirements and specifications.

Finally, Enertis Applus+ will supervise the commissioning phase, which includes the review of the final acceptance tests (FAT) and all the final documentation of the projects before their connection to the grid.

In the words of Pablo Filgueira, Head of Engineering at Enertis Applus+: "We are grateful to RWE Renewables for their trust. This is the result of having a team of highly committed and specialised professionals. The growing increase in the owner’s engineering services we provide to our clients in the Spanish market is a clear indicator of the companies' firm commitment to the quality of their solar photovoltaic assets, especially at a time when solar energy is booming."
