Applus+ has signed a contract with a major client in the power sector to carry out power grid construction and maintenance services for medium- and low-voltage (MV/LV) electrical networks in the Formosa region of Goiás, Brazil. The 60-month project began in March 2025 and will continue through March 2030, aiming to ensure the quality and continuity of electrical service in the area.
To execute this contract, Applus+ will hire 300 professionals, including 210 field personnel, forming a total of 53 specialized teams dedicated to construction, maintenance, and emergency response. These teams will handle key tasks such as the construction and maintenance of live and de-energized power lines, tree pruning, disconnection and reconnection of service, installation of new connections, and combating electricity fraud.
The primary objective of the project is to enhance the electrical infrastructure while ensuring compliance with regulatory timelines and optimizing the quality and voltage levels of the power supply. Specific activities will include the expansion of pole networks, equipment installation, cable laying, and customer inspection and normalization, aiming to meet the expectations of both the client and end users.
A major challenge for the project is the potential shortage of local labour, which will be mitigated through specialized training programs and continuous oversight. Additionally, inherent risks related to power network construction and maintenance—such as electrical hazards and working at height—will be addressed through rigorous training and strict safety protocols.
Expected benefits include the consolidation of the contract and the generation of new opportunities in the national power sector, strengthening Applus+ presence in the market and allowing for the expansion of its service portfolio. The successful execution of the project will also improve electric service quality, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen client relationships.
