Applus+ will take part in the upcoming edition of the WindEurope Annual Conference 2026, to be held in Madrid from 21 to 23 April. The event is set to once again be one of the leading European gatherings for the wind energy sector.
In a context shaped by increasing global competition, geopolitial challenges, and the need to accelerate the energy transition, the event will focus on the strategic role of wind energy as a key driver in achieving Europe's decarbonization goals. The conference will address, from both a technical and strategic perspective, how to boost sector deployment, foster innovation, and stregthen Europe's energy independence through renewable sources.
Within this framework, Applus+ will participate by presenting a technical poster developed by Avelino Vázquez, the company’s Technical Director of Non-Destructive Testing. The poster highlights the latest advances in inspection technologies applied to the offshore wind sector. This study explores the application of the IWEX technique in weld inspection, an innovation that significantly improves defect detection accuracy, optimizes inspection times, and reduces false positives compared to traditional ultrasonic non-destructive testing techniques.
During the conference, Avelino Vázquez will be present to showcase the poster, answer questions, and engage with attendees interested in learning more about IWEX technology and its applications.
In addition, this year’s WindEurope programme stands out for its strong emphasis on dialogue and collaboration among various stakeholders in the sector, including industry, research centers, and technology organizations. The agenda also features specialized sessions and panel discussions focused on key areas such as floating wind power, applied robotics, energy storage, offshore decommissioning, climate change, and nature restoration.
Through our participation, we reinforce our position as leaders in advanced technological solutions for the energy sector, contributing to the safe, efficient, and sustainable development of wind energy in Europe.
