The Applus+ team in Chile ensures the quality of Santiago de Chile's metropolitan public transport thanks to its project to monitor the maintenance of the most important bus fleet in the city.
This project seeks to ensure that the buses are kept in good condition throughout their useful operating life, and to this end, various inspection and revision tasks are carried out, both documentary and technical, with the aim of assuring the operational capacity, reliability and safety of the buses in order to provide a quality service.
The supervision and QA/QC in maintenance covers the entire fleet delivered to the operator, from the moment it is put into operation in passenger transport services. The services provided to the transport operator are carried out by a multidisciplinary team working together with the client. The project consists of three aspects: documentary audit, technical inspection and review of the general condition of the buses.
To carry out these QA/QC services, Applus+ has developed an IT platform compatible with Windows and Android, in which all the documentary information and the technical inspection and general condition check measurements of the buses are stored in real time. This allows the data to be always updated and available, eliminating the technological barrier of using paper.
The impact of bus fleet maintenance control is highly positive, as it benefits the users of public transport. Thanks to this supervision and control of the quality of the buses, people can enjoy an efficient, reliable, and comfortable journey, as the buses are kept in excellent mechanical and bodywork condition. The client (Operator) is also directly benefited as their service quality indicators increase, unexpected stops due to unforeseen faults are reduced and, consequently, they can use their entire fleet for efficient transport of people.
