Applus+ is carrying out a specialized environmental monitoring project to evaluate the potential risk of vapor and pollutant gas emissions in the Bogotá iver. The study aims to analyse the impact on air quality and propose mitigation measures, thereby strengthening the protection of water and atmospheric resources in Colombia.
The initiative covers the section between the Alicachín gates (Soacha) and the discharge point at the La Guaca Hydroelectric Plant (Vía Mesitas–La Mesa). The project includes key services from the Applus+ portfolio, such as:
Targeted monitoring campaigns will be conducted to measure compounds such as trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene, naphthalene, hydrogen sulfide, and methane, with strategically located stations in the Muña reservoir. In addition, an environmental contingency plan will be developed—aligned with international standards—to prevent and mitigate risks arising from potential emissions.
Applus+ applies rigorous safety and quality protocols supported by standardized procedures, precise instrument calibration, and continuous training for its technical teams. These actions ensure accurate and safe measurements in complex environments, in compliance with local regulations and the requirements of environmental authorities.
This project reinforces Applus+ leadership in environmental services, risk management, environmental consulting, and emergency response, contributing to operational sustainability and regulatory compliance in Colombia.
