Applus+ will carry out a specialized environmental monitoring project for a major gas transportation company in Colombia. The service will cover 25 work centers across different regions of the country and will enable the monitoring of critical environmental variables to ensure compliance with the commitments established in the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and the obligations arising from the Environmental License.
The project includes air quality monitoring, environmental noise, thermal radiation, surface and groundwater, and soil quality at 25 sites, including gas compressor stations, operational centers, and delivery stations. Activities will be carried out between May 2026 and May 2028.
To deliver the service, Applus+ will provide a multidisciplinary team of specialists and laboratories accredited under ISO/IEC 17025, ensuring the traceability and technical reliability of measurements and the quality of the information used to prepare the Environmental Compliance Reports (ICA), which must be submitted to the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA).
The technical scope includes environmental monitoring, including monitoring of atmospheric pollutants such as SO₂, NO₂, CO, O₃, PM10 and PM2.5, environmental and emission noise measurements, thermal radiation assessment, surface and groundwater monitoring, and soil characterization. The results will enable the environmental performance of the facilities to be assessed and compliance with applicable environmental regulations to be verified.
In gas transportation operations, continuous monitoring of environmental variables is a key element in environmental risk management and operational continuity. Reliable monitoring makes it possible to identify potential deviations in a timely manner, implement corrective measures, and demonstrate compliance with the regulatory requirements established by environmental authorities.
From a decision-maker's perspective, one of the main risks is non-compliance with the obligations established in the Environmental License, which may result in penalties, operational restrictions, and impacts on business continuity. Therefore, access to reliable and traceable technical information is essential to support the environmental management of assets.
Applus+ will mitigate these risks through monitoring activities based on accredited methodologies, standardized protocols, and strict quality controls, complemented by the delivery of technical reports that support decision-making and compliance with regulatory requirements.
The project will strengthen the environmental monitoring of the assets, generate traceable technical information for the ICA reports, and support the management of environmental obligations associated with operations. Through this service, Applus+ expands its capabilities to support energy companies in the environmental management of their assets and infrastructure.
