Applus+ is actively involved in the development of a pioneering system based on Artificial Intelligence for managing vegetation cover and tree stands, led by Avansig. Our role is centred on providing expertise and use cases geared towards predicting vegetation growth in critical infrastructure environments, as well as the use of our own Traza+ tool for automated asset management.
With this collaboration, Applus+ is helping to anticipate and prevent the proliferation of unwanted vegetation on wind farms and around power lines, improving safety, reducing the risk of fire, and enhancing the operational capacity of these infrastructures, while at the same time promoting a sustainable environmental balance.
Within the framework of the IG408M call for technological development and innovation through AI as part of the Next Generation Plan funded by the European Union, the project seeks to optimise forest management using simulation and predictive analysis. The system allows the simulation of tree-stand growth based on multiple variables such as dominant height, canopy cover, basal area, and total volume of harvestable forest stock. Such information facilitates smart decision-making in land management, including planning, felling, pruning and reforestation, and improves predictive maintenance of forested areas and associated infrastructure.
At Applus+, we place our experience and technology in environmental management, renewable energy, and infrastructure at the service of innovation and sustainability. We provide environmental consulting and environmental impact assessment services, as well as a broad portfolio in infrastructure, contributing to the protection of the natural environment and improving the safety, efficiency, and operability of critical infrastructures.
