Applus+ is executing a contract for the Yellow Line of the metro linking Santo Ovídio with Vila d'Este, which includes the equipment park and workshop for Ferrovial/Alberto Couto Alves.
The extension to Vila D'Este of the Yellow Line starts after the Santo Ovídio Station and runs for approximately 3.15 km, where the 3 new stations are located: Manuel Leão (underground, next to the Soares dos Reis and the RTP Production Centre), Hospital Santos Silva Silva (right opposite the third largest hospital in the North) and Vila D'Este.
The layout of this extension runs underground in a tunnel, viaduct, and on the surface.
Applus+ carries out and monitors the entire extension, through readings with daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly frequencies, of 220 Prisms, 432 Convergences, 46 Reflecting Targets, 116 Leveling Marks, 14 Leveling Rulers, 32 Inclinometers; 12 Piezometers, 16 Vibrating Rope Piezometers, 31 Extensometers, 19 Load Cells, 24 Pressure Cells.
Using its own tailor-made supervision technology, called SIGTUN (a geographic information system), to check for the presence of deformations, sags, strains, movements, etc. SIGTUN allows viewing the supervision in the field through digitized cartography (UTM coordinates) and the location of each instrumentation device.
It should be noted that during its construction, the supervision of the structural and geotechnical safety of structures and infrastructures consists of the measurement and control of geotechnical and structural parameters continuously and in real time.
The Porto Metro Yellow Line has existed since 2005. With over three kilometers in length, it will take mobility even further, to Centro Hospitalar de Gaia, RTP, and Vila d'Este.
This extension will contribute to road decongestion, removing around 17,000 cars from the road every day.
Starting in May 2021, this work is scheduled for completion in July 2023.
