Applus+ contributes to improving public space and bike lanes in Bogota

20/01/2022

The Applus+ team in Colombia will carry out the survey next year, processing and analysing the information for the update of the diagnosis and condition of the infrastructure of public space and bicycle lanes in Bogota (Colombia). The project will determine the condition index according to current regulations and the identification of accessibility elements.

This evaluation will allow the Urban Development Institute of Bogota (IDU) to understand the condition of more than 30 million m2 of sidewalks, separators, pedestrian walkways, public squares and bike lanes. This will provide a geographic database to support the planning, execution and monitoring processes of the IDU’s projects.

For these elements making up the city's public space, the first step will be a diagnosis based on the recognition of damage at surface level. This process will identify the type of damage, extent and severity; for bike lanes, high-performance technology will be used to capture quality information in less time.

Applus+ will provide services for updating the database of the failures found and the inventory data of other elements in the public space, such as vehicle ramps, tactile guides and warning signs, root containers, stairs and pedestrian bridges.
