QPS

QPS Evaluation Services Inc. was founded in 1997 in Canada. It is an accredited third-party testing, certification and field evaluation body for electrical and electronic products.

With its headquarters in Toronto, QPS operates several service centres in Canada, the USA, Europe, and Asia; and also collaborates with a network of testing and inspection partners worldwide. Its services enable its customers to meet national and international regulatory requirements related to electrical safety, energy efficiency, and  explosive atmospheres.

Accreditations 

QPS holds national accreditations for Canada and the USA for conducting certification for a wide range of electrical product categories, including hazardous location equipment (Ex/Atex). It is also a Notified Body for assessing the conformity of Ex Equipment to the requirements of the European ATEX Directive.

At the international level, QPS is accredited in the IECEE/CB Scheme as NCB and CBTL, and in the IECEx Scheme as ExCB and ExTL. The two industry schemes enjoy extensive worldwide recognition.

Services:

• IECEE/CB Scheme: QPS is accredited to test and certify a wide range of electrical and electronic products to the applicable IEC standards, including household appliances, IT equipment, audio/video products, process control equipment, and electro-medical devices and systems.
• Product Safety Testing and Certification for North America: QPS electrical safety certification marks are recognized by the Regulatory Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in the USA and Canada. The QPS mark is considered proof of compliance, allowing products to be marketed and sold in both countries.
• On-Site Field Evaluations for North America: Although Product Safety Certification is the most common proof of compliance, safety regulations in North America permit product approval using Field Evaluation where certification is not practical. QPS provides On-Site Field Evaluation services for electrical products, fuel-burning appliances and electrical medical equipment.
• ATEX/CE Marking: QPS is a Notified Body to assess conformity with the European ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, a mandatory requirement for Ex equipment to obtain the CE marking. QPS also helps manufacturers to ensure their products comply with other relevant Directives.
• IECEx: QPS is accredited in the IECEx Scheme to test and certify Ex Equipment to the international IEC standards, and also assess and certify personnel working on explosive atmospheres.
