The Applus+ Energy & Industry Division in the UK has renewed its manual non-destructive testing (NDT) services contract with EDF Energy. The contract covers inspection services for EDF Energy’s eight nuclear power stations in the UK.
Applus+ in the UK has held the contract since January 2013, with the new contract set to commence on 1st January 2020, for an initial five-year period. Contracted services include MPI, DPI, ultrasonic testing (UT), eddy current and radiography inspection techniques. Applus+ is also keen to put into practice the latest technological developments, support innovation and provide additional services as a trusted business partner.
The nuclear industry requires the highest safety, quality, technical and service delivery standards. Applus+ is proud to have been selected for such criteria and looks forward to continuing its close working relationship with EDF Energy, based on excellent performance, continuous improvement, and the future challenges to the nuclear industry.
Having worked alongside EDF Energy for the past seven years, Applus+ has demonstrated a commitment to safety, a passion for improvement and delivery of quality beyond industry standards. In renewing the contract, EDF Energy has demonstrated its ongoing commitment and confidence in Applus+ as an embedded and trusted strategic partner.
Due to its size and longevity, the contract will offer employment and long-term career opportunities. A large number of skilled and experienced technicians will be tasked with delivering planned inspection routines, as well as time-critical services to support station outages. Applus+ regards the award as a great opportunity for personnel to enhance and develop their own personal skills while working in a safe and welcoming environment.
Renewing the contract for a further five years secures an important client for the Applus+ business portfolio in the UK, strengthening the company’s position as one of the leading providers of inspection services in the UK energy sector.
