16/04/2026

With this acquisition Applus+ Laboratories expands its global footprint, enhancing its Common Criteria and FIPS evaluation capabilities through a new accredited laboratory in Australia.

Applus+, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Teron Labs, a Canberra based cybersecurity evaluation laboratory specializing in product security and cryptographic certifications. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the coming months.

This acquisition further strengthens Applus+ Laboratories’ cybersecurity capabilities amid growing global demand for appropriate, risk-based cybersecurity assurance for products, driven by increasing connectivity and regulatory convergence across multiple industries.

Teron Labs is an Australian Information Security Evaluation Facility (AISEF), licensed by the Australian Information Security Evaluation Program (AISEP) to conduct Common Criteria (CC) evaluations. In addition, Teron Labs is NVLAP-accredited and recognized by the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) to perform FIPS 140 cryptographic evaluations under the U.S. scheme, placing it among a limited number of laboratories worldwide with these combined capabilities.

Following the acquisition, Teron Labs will operate as part of Applus+ Laboratories’ Division, and join an established global network of cybersecurity labs, which combines Applus+ longstanding inhouse capabilities with the integration of specialized laboratories acquired over time, including Lightship Security and jtsec.

With this acquisition, Applus+ Laboratories now brings together more than 250 experts in product cybersecurity evaluation and certification, further reinforcing its global leadership in product security and cryptographic evaluations, supported by one of the broadest portfolios and highest volumes of evaluations delivered worldwide.

José Ruiz, Director of the Cybersecurity Business Unit at Applus+ Laboratories, said: “The acquisition of Teron Labs significantly expands our global footprint, adding Australia to our established laboratory network in North America, Europe and China. Importantly, it provides Applus+ with an accredited laboratory in the Asia Pacific region for both Common Criteria and FIPS evaluations, reinforcing our leadership in product cybersecurity and enabling us to better support our clients worldwide.”

Founded by experienced cybersecurity professionals Juan Manuel Gonzalez and Anantha Kandiah, Teron Labs has built a strong reputation for technical excellence and regulatory expertise in the field of product security.

Juan Manuel Gonzalez and Anantha Kandiah, founders of Teron Labs, commented: “Joining Applus+ means becoming part of a global family of leading cybersecurity laboratories. This integration will allow us to expand our international reach and better support our clients as product security regulations become increasingly global. Being part of Applus+ Laboratories will also enable us to offer EUCC services for the European market, complementing our existing capabilities and responding to the evolving global regulatory landscape.”

This acquisition supports Applus+ Laboratories’ objective of helping manufacturers worldwide achieve compliance with evolving cybersecurity requirements and facilitating secure market access across international schemes.
