14/10/2020

Applus+ Velosi in Qatar is proud to announce that it’s Pipeline Rehabilitation Team have successfully completed the installation of, what is believed to be, the largest diameter (1000mm) UV cured glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) liner in the Middle East region. As part of the same project, the team installed 133m of 600mm diameter UV cured GRP liner, the longest liner ever installed in Doha, Qatar.

The scope of work included cleaning, CCTV, patch repair and the rehabilitation of surface ground water drainage using UV lining technology.

The diameter range of the pipelines was 600mm to 1000mm, constructed of Vitrified Clay (VC) pipe, with each section measuring 45m to 133m in length. A total of 24.4 tonnes of material was installed during the project.

The biggest challenge with the installation was stopping the high-pressure infiltration, and the insertion of the material due to the depth of the pipelines, which ranged from 8.5m to 17.75m. The 1000mm diameter installation was an additional challenge due to restricted access because of the multiple platforms within the manhole chambers which were 17.75m in depth. Our team of experts overcame these challenges to the client's satisfaction.

Applus+ Velosi in Qatar utilised Reline Europe Alphaliner 500G UP and Alphaliner 1800H UP. The team would like to take this opportunity to thank Reline Europe for their support and the design of the liners.

David Henderson, Regional Manager for Pipeline Rehabilitation Services in the Middle East & Africa commented, “Our team continues to strive for excellence as we grow and strengthen our service offerings in the Middle East. This was an impressive effort from Mark Loughman and the team to deliver this project on time and within budget. The client chose Applus+ Velosi because of its high quality of service and stellar reputation in the Qatar market.”
