22/07/2019

On 5th June, to mark World Environment Day, Uruguay’s National Administration of Power Plants and Electrical Transmissions (UTE) presented, in Montevideo, its Modernisation of Environmental Management project, which is being executed by the Applus+ Norcontrol-LKSur consortium.

Representing Applus+ is a team of expert environmental management consultants from Galicia and central Spain, as well as an IT expert from the central zone’s Department of Industrial Consultancy. LKSur is the company’s local partner in the project.

This project involves carrying out a comprehensive environmental assessment; drawing up an action plan, including performance and management indicators, to meet international standards; and implementing an Environmental Management IT system (SIGA).

Some members of the Applus+ team travelled to the Uruguayan capital to attend this event and to present the project they are working on. UTE’s President, Gonzalo Casaravilla, was keen to highlight the project’s contribution to and alignment with UTE’s digital transformation progress and goals, as well as what the project means for UTE in terms of its standing in the field of environmental management.

UTE has successfully positioned itself as a regional leader in environmental management in the power sector and occupies one of the top spots among the companies that have most reduced their greenhouse gas emissions.

With this new Latin American project, which puts the experience and professionalism of Applus+ experts to the fore, the company lays another stone in its international expansion.
