Applus+ has successfully run a pilot project with Danish startup Oktogrid to provide advanced electric transformers online condition monitoring services together to Applus+ utilities clients. This collaboration has been facilitated by Applus+ Ventures, the corporate venturing unit in Applus+ Group.
Oktogrid provides real-time access to transformer performance data for grid operators. Applus+ aims to enhances the service offering partnering with innovative companies and jointly contributing to smarter and more sustainable and reliable electricity networks. Golam Sadeghnia, CEO of Oktogrid, said: “At Oktogrid, our mission is to make the power grid smarter, safer and more sustainable. Collaborating with Applus+ allows us to prove the value of our technology in a real-world setting. The European Distribution Transformers market is expected to grow +10% CAGR to 2030 to +4Billion €, representing an interesting opportunity for monitoring technologies”.
The pilot project was run in a Spanish utility facilities providing real-world environment to validate the technology and assess its potential for broader deployment. The collaboration has also generated internal efficiencies in Applus in terms of accessing and testing state of the art technology to incorporate to the service offering.
The results of the pilot test and collaboration are promising in perfecting the offer of intelligence asset monitoring solutions, accelerating the digital transformation and the energy transition in the industry.
