The Applus+ team in Chile is providing its support and advisory services to the tax inspector in the concession contracts for airport works ensuring faithful compliance with them.

The concession contracts are in full execution by the concession companies. Our supervision and QA/QC service provides support to the inspection process of the works in the exploitation stage of the concession of the El Loa de Calama and Andrés Sabella de Antofagasta Airports. Both works are located in the Antofagasta region.

Among the activities to be carried out by Applus+ are: the monitoring of compliance with the control program imposed by the DGC (General Directorate of Concessions) and inserted in the bidding bases, and the upload of data to the multiple modules required by the MOP (Ministry of Public Works).

It should be noted that several improvement works have been planned for the El Loa de Calama Airport. The construction of the new Passenger Terminal building will be carried out, as well as the remodeling of 2,240 m2 of the current terminal area for the construction of administrative offices, operations offices, a casino and logistics facilities. Also, an expansion of the aircraft parking platform by 8,100 m2 will be done.

Additionally, this project is undergoing a new bidding process, whose purpose consists mainly of the expansion, repair, conservation and replacement of the existing infrastructure, equipment and facilities at this airport, within the concession area.

Moreover, civil works and necessary installations are also in the works to provide airlines, passengers and other users of the airport with the conditions of service, comfort and safety.

On the other hand, the works carried out at the Andrés Sabella Airport will be the remodeling and expansion of the Passenger Terminal. It has areas of commercial concessions such as: the public hall for the arrivals and departures, surfaces for airport processes, airlines offices, electromechanical and airport equipment, furniture, signage, and communications, in addition to all the basic services. These improvements will contribute to a greater number of embarked passengers, greater efficiency in the immigration control of people and also greater control of merchandise (including illicit substances).

Likewise, this project will carry out the maintenance of all the pre-existing constructions that extend over 7,000m2 of the current buildings and the new facilities that add up to 2,900m2. Furthermore, important improvements will be made to the access roads and internal circulation of the Airport.

The particularity of this consultancy is that, for the first time in years, the in-person staff is in the region and in the permanent inspection of the land, ensuring all the aspects of the concession contracts are considered. Likewise, they are supporting the inspection of the MOP, through pre-established programs that are rigorously executed. This allows permanent contact with system operators, improvement of internal processes and generates an increase in the level of internal and external customer satisfaction.

The added value of Applus+ is in the consultancy made up of a multidisciplinary team of professionals settled in-situ in the projects, which allows the scope of the contract to be addressed in a holistic and timely manner. This includes: legal advice, management and business, infrastructure, equipment and systems, operation and quality of services, environment, risk prevention, contractual milestones, exploitation and operation coordination, and supervision of infrastructure, equipment and systems in facilities in Antofagasta.
