23/03/2023

The Applus+ team provides a complete inspection team (QA/QC) to monitor the fabrication of subsea structures and rigid lines for a crude oil exploration field in Santos, Brazil.

The inspection of this oil and gas exploration and production infrastructure (upstream), which lasts 11 months, is carried out according to the DNVGL-ST-F101 and ASME standards (Section IX). This standard is intended to provide an internationally accepted framework for subsea pipeline systems in all phases of their useful life, with a focus on structural assessment, with the aim of obtaining an appropriate and consistent level of safety.

Applus+ is in charge of directing and supervising all QA / QC activities, including the implementation and control activities of the work and supply quality system. Additionally, Applus+ is in charge of the monitoring and analysis of welding inspection services, non-destructive testing, and inspection of coatings, which are necessary to guarantee quality in the execution of the project.

In response to the client's need in this project, we proceed to provide technical supervision services, management, and supply of labour, equipment for welding inspections, corrosion, non-destructive testing, Phased Array ultrasound, and qualification of welding procedures, ultrasound qualification, and Phased Array tests based on DNV GL ST Standards F101.

The project has the assignment of specialized inspectors with different qualifications in order to monitor and guarantee the quality of the manufacturing and installation of 90km of rigid pipes and subsea equipment that will be used in an oil and gas exploration field.

Likewise, the project also requires high-level inspectors with multidisciplinary skills, with experience in the manufacture of underwater equipment and certified according to the ISO-9712 standards for Non-Destructive Testing, ABNT NBR 15218 and/or NACE for inspection of coatings and corrosion, and ABNT NBR 14842 for welding inspectors. This type of professional has been one of the client's requirements for this project, inspectors who, in addition to the necessary certifications, have proven experience in submarine equipment manufacturing projects.

It is worth mentioning other types of professionals that Applus+ provided to the client in this project, and they have been equipment supervisors that were certified as level 2 welding given the technical level of the project, the complexity, and the rigor required for the manufacture of underwater equipment.

Finally, in this project, Applus+ has the opportunity to deliver a complete solution for the technical supervision, management, and supply of human and material resources to the client in the QA/QC area, saving time, financial resources, and greater efficiency for the client in contract management. In this scenario, customer/supplier interactions and decision-making are faster, more effective, and more complete.
