During the execution of a transmission line and substation supervision project, Applus+ implemented a vehicle fleet control system based on the analysis of GPS reports from the Hunter platform. Through weekly and monthly reports on driving events, mileage and fuel consumption, the management of nine pickup trucks was optimized, strengthening road safety, operational efficiency, and resource control throughout the project.
The project required permanent travel to different work fronts, with a fleet of nine pickup trucks assigned to technical supervision activities. Without systematic monitoring, it was difficult to verify compliance with authorized routes, monitor driving habits, and assess fuel performance. This lack of traceability could lead to road safety risks, improper vehicle use, higher operating costs and deviations in resource management, affecting the efficiency of power transmission works supervision.
Applus+ implemented an operational monitoring process by analyzing information downloaded from the Hunter platform. This data was used to prepare weekly and monthly reports on driving events, mileage, routes taken, and fuel consumption for the project’s nine pickup trucks. More than 10,000 km were analyzed each month, making it possible to identify speeding, route deviations, and opportunities to improve fuel efficiency. The findings were communicated to personnel through reports, feedback and corrective actions, strengthening compliance with defensive driving policies, and the efficient use of resources.
The solution strengthened fleet operational control and improved the traceability of travel associated with the project. Continuous monitoring helped reduce speeding events through incident reporting and the implementation of corrective measures where appropriate. Similarly, identifying route deviations made it possible to correct unauthorized vehicle use and recover costs associated with fuel consumed outside project activities. As a result, Applus+ optimized resource management reinforced a culture of safe driving and increased the operational efficiency of supervision activities.
