Applus+ launches eReformas for PTI users in Spain

07/03/2023
    • eReformas is the only project in the world that uses Artificial Intelligence to save on costs, time and travel.

7 March 2023 – Applus+, a leading Spanish multinational in the vehicle inspection sector, with more than 13 million inspections per year in 11 countries, has developed the eReformas digital platform to improve the PTI test user experience in Spain.

eReformas is an easy-to-use digital solution that reduces travel, streamlines procedures and simplifies vehicle approval processes, which substantially improves the user experience. It is a unique tool in Spain, and the company is not aware of its availability in any other country in the world.

The programme is aimed at all types of customers, both individuals and professionals, allowing them to carry out most of these processes online, without the time constraints of the MOT service stations. eReformas asks customers for the necessary documentation depending on the service and the autonomous region in which it is requested. Using artificial intelligence, it is able to analyse the information it has received and assess its validity. If it detects any anomaly, it asks the customer for updated or additional information, all remotely. Therefore, it automates many of the checks, which allows human technicians to perform the more important tasks, such as inspecting the vehicle itself, increasing the efficiency of the service.

Although nominally grouped under the generic term "alterations", the eReformas system includes four different types of services:

    • service changes, for example, a vehicle goes from being a vehicle for private use to a public service vehicle, a rental vehicle, or a driving school vehicle
    • obtaining duplicate statutory vehicle inspection Cards, quicker and with more thorough quality monitoring thanks to AI
    • pre-registration services, which are provided to imported vehicles that need to be registered but do not have an MOT card
    • alterations, the most representative, which includes vehicle conversions

Aitor Retes, Executive Vice President of Applus+ Automotive, says: "Thanks to eReformas, our clients no longer have to go to the station to find out what documents they need to present, nor do they have to return later to hand them in and open the file. The project started in 2023 and we are considering extending it to the other countries where we do vehicle inspections.”
