Applus+ approved by General Motors as EMC testing laboratory

General Motor’s component suppliers must validate EMC compliance in a GM-recognized laboratory
Barcelona, January 19th of 2016. Applus+, a global testing, inspection and certification company, has been recognized, through its subsidiary company Applus+ Laboratories, as an approved EMC testing laboratory by General Motors (GM). Applus+ will now be able to validate electromagnetic compatibility for GM’s component supply chain, from automotive subcomponents to complex vehicle security systems.

Like other manufacturers, GM demands stricter quality and security requirements of its components suppliers than those established by European and international standards. Regarding electromagnetic compatibility, components must pass a testing plan in a laboratory previously recognized by the manufacturer.

Applus+ Laboratories is the unique independent entity in the south of Europe with this recognition, which enables the company to improve its current service portfolio. Its technological center at Bellaterra (Barcelona) gives support to Spanish automobile clusters and has four semi-anechoic chambers dedicated to EMC testing, one capable of complete vehicle testing.

In addition to the capabilities in the electromagnetic compatibility field, Applus+ has ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratories for vibration, acoustic, electric, climatic and materials testing, among others. In this way, it offers integrated solution for validation plans.
