Radiographic and ultrasonic tests in the gas pipeline of the Atlantic coast of the United States

25/04/2019
The Energy & Industry Division in the United States, through its commercial brand JANX, is carrying out testing work on North America’s Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP).
Concretely, Applus+ is providing automated ultrasonic testing (AUT) and real-time radiographic (RTR) services to the pipeline, as well as three compressor stations and nine regulating and metering stations along a big part of the more than 1,000 kilometers through which the gas pipeline extends.

Once operational, this pipeline will link up natural gas suppliers in the gas-producing regions with the growing energy markets of North Carolina and Virginia.

This is an ambitious project involving six different states and nine contractors. As one of North America’s biggest pipeline construction projects, it is forecast to create some 17,000 jobs and to generate 2.7 billion US dollars’ worth of economic activity throughout the region.
