INTRODUCTION

The manufacture of replacement aerospace parts is a time-consuming, complex and costly exercise, which is why many companies in the aerospace industry are keen to identify a more efficient solution when components are found to be faulty.

THE Applus+ SOLUTION
Applus+ now offers Nadcap-certified welding repair to complement its non-destructive testing (NDT) services. Specifically, if a problem is identified during the NDT process, the part can be repaired and re-inspected in a fraction of the time it would take to manufacture a new component.
 
Our roadmap includes performing and/or reviewing a 100% X-ray of the component in question and, if necessary, excavating porosity, shrinkage or linear indications with the in-process verification of defect removal.
 
Applus+ performs repair welding in a temperature- and humidity-controlled room, ending with the blending of repair zone(s). The repaired part is then sent back through the NDT process to ensure the hardware meets the requisite standards.
