Applus+ in Indonesia successfully performed a Jack-Up Rig Simulation Integrated Test (SIT) and Endurance Test

    Our senior technical team at Applus+ in Indonesia completed the Rig SIT and Endurance Test on a Jack-Up Rig for one of the biggest oil operators in offshore East Kalimantan. Despite the pandemic, the tests were done in less than ten days, with additional days of quarantine based on the client’s Covid-19 protocols prior to going offshore.

    Rig SIT, also known as an “Integrated Acceptance Test” (IAT), simulates realistic drilling operations and demonstrates the crew’s competency in operating drilling and marine equipment. Endurance Tests are performed to ensure the main equipment of the rig is fit-for-service for drilling operations.  

    During the project, our technicians performed a “Full Condition Survey” prior to the tests to audit and verify that all findings from previous rig inspections had been closed by the rig operator. 

    The tests were delivered in March 2021 with zero injury or incident. The report generated from the tests was submitted to client within less than one month, and the report will also be used as a reference for the next drilling campaign. 

    For this test campaign, the challenge of personnel movement and mobilisation has been successfully overcome with the assistance of the client’s Covid-19 protocol, and they also provide the quarantine logistics and relevant testing before the Applus+ Inspector goes offshore.
