Applus+ is proud to announce that Christopher Louw, Business Unit Manager – Digital Services, has been formally certified by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as the Chief Remote Pilot (CRP) for Applus+ in the Pacific Region.

This certification is a significant milestone that reinforces Applus+’ ongoing commitment to operating Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) safely, efficiently, and in line with the highest industry standards. By meeting CASA requirements—and aligning with BARS (Basic Aviation Risk Standard) and IOGP 696 (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers) guidelines—Applus+ continues to position itself as a leader in advanced, compliant drone-based data capture services.

The CRP certification is not only a recognition of Christopher’s leadership and technical expertise but also a strategic enabler for the company’s expanding RPAS programs across Australia and the Pacific. As Chief Remote Pilot, he will oversee and manage regulatory compliance, flight safety protocols, and operational excellence across our drone operations.

As Applus+ continues to invest in its RPAS capability, the business remains focused on:

    • Streamlining and optimising workflows across our remote sensing operations
    • Deploying advanced payloads for Photogrammetry, LiDAR, Thermography, Gas Detection & Quantification, and Precision Surveying
    • Supporting the ongoing development of our RPAS pilots, enabling them to operate as skilled Digital Capture Specialists in the field

Christopher’s appointment as CRP further enhances our ability to provide high-value, data-driven solutions to clients in the energy, infrastructure, and critical asset sectors. His leadership will play a key role in driving innovation, upholding safety, and ensuring the continued growth of our digital inspection and aerial survey services.
