Applus+ continues as a cathodic protection team provider for our longstanding client in Papua New Guinea

24/08/2023

Applus+ is proud to be engaged as cathodic protection provider for our longstanding oil and gas client in Papua New Guinea. This is an ongoing project which has now been extended to the end of 2024.

The cathodic protection system protects critical equipment, such as pipelines, storage tanks, and offshore platforms, from corrosion by establishing a controlled electrochemical reaction. By creating a favourable electrical environment, the system shifts the electrochemical potential of the protected equipment to a more negative value, thereby inhibiting the corrosion process.

Our inspectors ensure thorough installation, continuous monitoring, and proper maintenance of the cathodic protection system. This proactive approach extends equipment lifespan and averts leaks and failures, ultimately reducing maintenance expenses, minimising downtime, and enhancing overall safety.

As part of our commitment to growth and excellence, we are bringing in Cathodic Protection expertise from abroad to develop and empower our PNG Trainees to be future Cathodic Protection inspectors.
