Applus+ in the UAE has completed an emergency repair on a 300mm potable water pipeline in a densely populated, high-demand urban zone. The pipeline had developed multiple leaking joints and was experiencing significant pressure drops, posing a serious threat to public supply continuity and nearby infrastructure stability.
The project required urgent mobilisation and a trenchless solution that could meet strict municipal regulations and environmental standards. Applus+ engaged PRIMUS to deploy their advanced liner technology, enabling internal rehabilitation of the pipeline without the need for full excavation.
The repair utilised a custom-fabricated aramid-reinforced liner, engineered to accommodate the pipeline's operational pressure of up to 20 bar. The system was installed using a pull-in method, without curing or chemical bonding, ensuring clean, safe reinstatement of potable water flow.
"The installation was a great success," said Mark Loughman, Head of Water Infrastructure Services at Applus+. "This was a truly collaborative effort. I want to extend my gratitude to our operations team for their outstanding work under pressure, and to Simon Compton for his continued support throughout the project.”
