Applus+ Saudi Arabia has successfully completed a comprehensive soil investigation, MASW (Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves), and topographic survey for the Kingdom’s flagship financial district development in northern Riyadh—one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent urban megaprojects.
Located at the centre of Riyadh’s future financial and business landscape, this world-class district forms a key pillar of Vision 2030. Applus+ was entrusted with delivering a full geotechnical and surveying programme, which included drilling more than 190 boreholes with depths between 15m and 100m, conducting 400 pressuremeter tests, and installing piezometers for groundwater monitoring. The team also executed high-resolution topographic surveys using drones and mobile mapping, alongside MASW seismic surveys across 7,100 linear meters to assess subsurface characteristics.
Throughout the assignment, Applus+ coordinated multiple specialised services within one of Riyadh’s busiest construction zones—managing parallel drilling operations, geophysical testing, and aerial mapping activities while maintaining strict safety standards. The site’s complex geology required continuous optimisation of drilling strategies and extensive laboratory testing, including particle size distribution, Atterberg limits, moisture content, and chemical profiling of soil and groundwater samples.
The successful completion of this project showcases Applus+ Saudi Arabia’s capability to integrate geotechnical engineering, advanced geophysics, and state-of-the-art surveying technologies into a single, data-driven solution. The information produced has supported the district’s designers and developers in making informed engineering decisions, reducing construction risks, and ensuring long-term structural resilience.
By delivering this major assignment, Applus+ reaffirms its role as a trusted partner in Saudi Arabia’s urban development—strengthening its contribution to the Vision 2030 goals of building sustainable, world-class infrastructure.
