Applus+ successfully carried out the metallurgical upgrading scope by effectively communicating with the metallurgist and engineering team. Through this partnership, Applus+ was able to help the client find possible areas of concern when it came to sulfidation damage mechanisms in the crude oil unit is pipes. Consequently, visual inspectors promptly identified the underlying damage.

Applus+ assessed the # 3 Crude Unit AVGO and Atmos Bottoms pipework of assorted sizes, as well as provided cleaning and prep resources and equipment for this out-of-scope activity to advance the inspection. After effective surface prep, Applus+ performed Ultrasonic testing (UT) inspection surveys to meet client needs.

Applus+ had experienced inspectors manage and organize inspection teams on both day and night shifts with a combination of UT Level 1 and Level 2 technicians and experienced trainee support to execute the work scope to maximize efficiency and expertise collaboration.

After completing the refinery’s turnaround last year and demonstrating its success, Applus+ received the renewal contract for this year.

The Applus+ site manager collaborated directly with the client on planning, execution, and reporting techniques for this inspection campaign to improve our client connection.

Applus+ performed various NDT methods at the refinery, including, but not limited to: Ultrasonic Testing (UT), including UTSW, Magnetic-Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiography Testing (RT), and advanced inspection methods like RTR and CR services via Rope Access

Our team has considerable expertise working at our client's facilities, giving us an edge in operating effectively in a challenging environment, meeting client needs, reducing client resources, and executing on time and budget.
