Applus+ combines field expertise and digital technology to deliver infrastructure inspections at scale in Riyadh

The programme covers inspections of completed infrastructure works to verify that permit requirements have been met and that affected areas have been reinstated before permits are formally closed. The team also conducts field inspections of utility excavation activities undertaken under Standard Permits.

Delivery is managed by a 12-person inspection team working in the field, supported by three staff responsible for coordination, administration and reporting.

A key feature of the programme is the use of InfraTrack, Applus+'s digital inspection platform, which is used to manage inspection activities from planning through to reporting. The system combines a desktop control centre, a mobile application for inspectors and an API layer that connects inspection data with reporting processes.

The platform is used to assign and schedule inspections, monitor progress, record field observations, capture geotagged photographs and measurements, and produce standardised reports. According to Applus+, the system allows inspection teams and back-office staff to work from the same data set, providing a record of each inspection from assignment to completion.

The digital workflow has enabled the team to process large numbers of inspections across the city while maintaining a consistent approach to data collection and reporting.
