As a part of our commitment toward the Corporate Social Responsibility program, Applus+ Velosi in the Middle East & Africa, together with its employees joined billions of people across the globe participating in Earth Hour by switching off non-essential lights and electrical equipment on our business premises for one hour.

Since earth hour was supposed to be held from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on Saturday, March 30 globally, Applus+ participated in this event on Thursday, March 28th 2019 at 10:30 am as Saturday is a non-working day in the Middle East and Africa.

By taking part in this global event, Applus+ Velosi acknowledged its commitment towards personal and operational actions that benefit the planet in the year ahead. Applus+ always plans to take a close look at ways in which the company can operate more efficiently, waste less and reduce our ecological footprint.

Earth Hour began as a single-city initiative – in Sydney, Australia – in 2007 and has since grown into a global movement with hundreds of millions of people from more than 7,000 cities and towns in 152 countries across every continent switching off their lights for Earth Hour 2012, creating history as the world’s greatest ever environmental action. Some of the world’s most famous man-made marvels and natural wonders, including the Burj Khalifa, China’s Forbidden City, the Eiffel Tower, Table Mountain, the Great Pyramids of Egypt, Buckingham Palace, Brazil’s Christ the Redeemer statue, Niagara and Victoria Falls, the Empire State Building, the Sydney Opera House and many more global icons stood in darkness as a powerful symbol.
