Applus+ Velosi in Saudi Arabia is the first in line for Aramco CBT

Vignesh Sharma, Quality Control Mechanical Inspector in Applus+ Velosi in Saudi Arabia, was the first person to participate in the newly introduced Aramco Computer-Based Testing (CBT) method.

Saudi Aramco is the largest oil company in the world, with a global presence in the energy market and a key crude oil supplier to several countries. It has facilities and subsidiaries throughout the world, providing a wide range of services, including exploration, drilling, refining, storage, transportation and delivery of crude oil.

In order to support these huge operations, Aramco hires quality inspection personnel from companies like Applus+ Velosi. A central prerequisite is to ensure that all personnel are experienced, qualified and have good technical know-how.

Historically, Aramco had a candidate screening/selection process that required inspectors to undertake a written test and a face-to-face interview. Successful candidates were given an Aramco SAP reference number, which was required for all inspectors working on Aramco projects or inspection assignments worldwide.

Aramco has now introduced a new CBT method in place of the written test system. The CBT is carried out at the Pearson Vue Examination Centre.

In October 2019, when Aramco asked all inspection agencies to take the exam, Applus+ Velosi in Saudi Arabia were the first to propose a list of inspectors who would undertake the CBT. Vignesh Sharma from Applus+ Velosi in Saudi Arabia was the first inspector from among the inspection companies and engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contractors to take the Aramco CBT.
