In January 2013, Applus+ began to provide manual non-destructive testing (NDT) services to the EDF Energy UK nuclear generation fleet. The contract sees Applus+ provide significant resources to support core inspections and planned statutory outages across the eight nuclear power stations within the UK.
During its seven-year tenure, Applus+ has become an embedded supplier, working collaboratively with EDF Energy steering groups like “Zero Harm”, “Step Up to Quality” and “Outage”. As well as developing relationships to enable the “better-together” ethos, Applus+ has actively engaged with EDF Energy’s plant, processes and procedures to assure joint success.
The Applus+ commitment to safety and quality goes beyond corporate social responsibility. We actively seek to help our customers to safeguard their operations by minimising hazards and protecting the workforce and the environment. EDF Energy provides an excellent example of these standards: after seven years and one million operational hours, Applus+ has a record of zero lost time accidents.
These collaborative efforts with EDF Energy demonstrate that nuclear safety is our common overriding priority. Our constant striving for excellence goes beyond standards and aligns us with our clients’ expectations.
