R-stamp accreditation received for a major processing plant operator in the UAE

13/02/2019
Applus+ has recently successfully assisted a major processing plant operator in the UAE to obtain the Certificate of Authorization by the National Board for Repairs and Alteration of pressure retaining items for its plants in Abu Dhabi.
This certification allows them to perform repairs and alterations of pressure retaining items in compliance to the worldwide recognized American ASME and NBIC standards.

    The certification covered two scopes:
    • Authorization to perform Repair and Alterations of Pressure Retaining Items within the plants by the company’s own workshops (Repair Stamp)
    • Owner User Inspection Organization which allows the company to perform inspections with their own independent inspectors.

Applus+ consultants prepared and organized several training sessions with the staff of each plant, assessed the processes and procedures within the plants and helped to develop the Quality System as required by the ASME and National Board standards.

Furthermore, a demonstration item was prepared by every plant in the form of a pressure vessel with a repair simulation along with full documentation of, e.g., Design, Welding and NDT.
The 6-days audit led by an auditor from California was accomplished without findings, and client obtained the certification successfully.

Applus+ has proved to be a strong and reliable partner within the ASME certification scheme, which has been very much appreciated by the client. Our experts from the Abu Dhabi team work internationally and are looking forward to supporting other countries and regions within the Energy & Industry division of Applus+ developing the Service Line of inspections as per the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes.
