Live Webinar: Structural Health Monitoring Using Fiber Optic Sensors and Risk Minimisation

05/07/2020

Instrumentation is used to monitor in-service performance of any kind of structure, such as bridges, tunnels and building structures. This provides an early warning of potential failures, allowing time for safe evacuation of the area and implementation of remedial action. Applus+ provides continuous monitoring services using optic fiber and risk minimisation measures.

In this free live webinar, we will look at the benefits of Optic Fiber in Instrumentation and Monitoring services.

Luis Alberto Jaén Pérez is the Service Line Director for Construction Services in the Applus+ Group and he will be joined by a guest speaker, Pedro A. Calderón.

    About the speaker:

    Pedro A. Calderón (Ph.D, MSc)

Pedro is a professor at the Universitat Politécnica de Valencia and visiting professor at the universities of Princeton, Nacional de Colombia or Javeriana de Bogotá, among others. He is a leader and researcher of over 10 European Union and National research projects and more than 50 research projects involving private companies and institutions, many of them on Fiber Optics based Structural Health Monitoring and advanced sensor systems.

Pedro is a researcher at the ICITECH Institute (www.icitech.upv.es), where he leads the Structural Health Monitoring research line. He is a well-recognized scientist, author of more than 70 refereed scientific papers, 6 book chapters and 100 papers published in other journals, magazines and conferences. He held the title of Partner and Technical Director of Grupo de Ingeniería y Arquitectura (Engineering Consulting Company, 100 employees) between 1991 and 1999, where he led and participated in projects in Spain, Benin, Guinea Bissau, Mexico and Colombia.
