Applus+ successfully participated in the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) between 31 October – 3 November

11/11/2022

This was the second time that Applus+ exhibited in the event. Andrew Cunningham, Country Manager of Applus+ in the UAE, commented: “We are committed to the Middle East with over 2,000 employees located throughout the region. This commitment extends to our strong support for in-country programs that develop local industry and local people skill base. We were proud to display our technical capabilities and commitment to the ME region during ADIPEC and it was our pleasure to be a part of the successful 2022 exhibition. We look forward to 2023 and continuing our success with the support of the ME region”.

ADIPEC 2022 welcomed over 2,000 exhibitors and more than 100,000 visitors from around the world. The event gave energy companies, service providers, and suppliers an opportunity to showcase their technologies and services to a wider audience.

Niels Pörtzgen, Technical Authority and Inventor of the Applus+ IWEX, presented a paper at the ADIPEC Technical Conference “Improving facility maintenance through inspection with the latest ultrasonic imaging technology”, which was well received by all attendees.

Applus+ showcased the following technologies on its exhibition stand in Hall 6, Stand no. 6270:

    • Applus+ IWEX - A Full Matrix Capture Ultrasonic technique. IWEX images can be viewed as 2D cross-section or as 3D images making defect classification uncomplicated. IWEX improves the ability to image flaws to determine if they are defects or benign. IWEX helps Applus+ clients to reduce cost and downtime and enhanced productivity.

    • Applus+ DTI Trekscan - Trekscan is a UT pipeline in-line inspection tool designed to cross back-to-back one-dimensional bends, for pipelines previously considered to be 'unpiggable. Traditionally, the internal inspection of unpiggable pipelines has often been cost-intensive or too problematic for effective pipeline-integrity management. Trekscan, our own-developed tool, has addressed these challenges with key design attributes that allow for the successful inline inspection of unpiggable pipelines.

    • Applus+ HEX System Applus+ HEX, is the cost- & time-saving alternative that provides 360-degree internal access to storage spheres for the deployment of inspection technologies. The HEX, along with rope-access techniques, provides a far more robust system with many benefits including:
      • Cost savings due to substantially reduced downtime
      • Improved lighting due to less clutter compared to scaffolding
      • 100% coverage of the internal area without the need for multiple alterations as with scaffolding

Applus+ technical experts from The Netherlands, the UK, and the Middle East were available to answer questions, hold technical discussions and demonstrate the technologies to clients.
