Rig inspection is one of Applus+’s specialties in Indonesia and we recently supported an independent power producer.
In the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic and its travel restrictions, the experts had to implement the rig inspection remotely, which resulted in unexpected challenges encountered by the team of specialists.
The conditions on location were hard, with social distancing and local regulations limiting sector activities. The staff had to undergo strict medical check-up screening before mobilising. Qualified personnel had to observe several days of quarantine before entering the rig site, which is located 1,500 km away from the field, 3 to 4 hours by plane.
The experts met on location and successfully completed the remote rig inspection with online guidance from the project lead member. This way, the employees on-site could review the preliminary report to be delivered to the client.
Despite the challenges encountered due to the health crisis and travel restrictions, Applus+ managed to deliver the service perfectly with remote assistance, the first time such an inspection for the geothermal industry has been done by the Indonesian Applus+ team.
