Applus+ in Indonesia takes lead in ensuring safety standards during LNG plant turnaround in West Papua

20/03/2024

In February 2024, Applus+ in Indonesia took on a pivotal role in overseeing safety measures and ensuring compliance standards during a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tank inspection in Teluk Bintuni, West Papua.

The maintenance operation, focused on Train-2 of the LNG facility, is a routine yet critical procedure conducted to maintain the plant's operational efficiency and safety standards. With an annual capacity of 11.4 million metric tonnes, the LNG Plant plays a vital role in Indonesia's energy landscape.

As the appointed client representative for this project, our team of experts is tasked with evaluating the integrity of all static equipment within LNG Train-2. This includes essential components such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, air-cooled heat exchangers, and boilers.

One key requirement for Applus+ personnel involved is their welding certification as ASME authorized inspectors. This certification ensures that inspectors possess the necessary skills and expertise to evaluate equipment safety and compliance with industry standards.

Throughout the 45-day turnaround period, Applus+ Indonesia's ASME authorized inspectors will meticulously inspect and oversee any necessary repairs to ensure they meet stringent safety and regulatory standards. This includes verifying that repairs are conducted by certified and competent personnel, including welders and non-destructive testing (NDT) technicians.

Our unwavering dedication to maintaining safety and compliance standards underscores our commitment to excellence in the energy sector, solidifying our position as a global leader in the industry.
