Annually, facilities such as cellulose mills suspend operations to conduct testing and inspection-related tasks. Regulatory bodies require planned shutdowns, outages, or turnarounds to ensure that asset owners and operators comply with adopted standards and codes.
Applus+ was recently awarded a large-scale outage project to perform inspection duties at a British Columbia Pulp and Paper facility. Non-destructive testing (NDT) will be carried out on a variety of facility assets, such as a digester, recovery boiler, and various tanks vessels and piping systems.
Applus+ provides the client with all necessary NDT services, such as Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and Computer Radiography to monitor and evaluate Stress Assisted Corrosion (SAC).
Applus+ technicians will undertake the necessary inspections of the facility's various assets using a variety of NDT techniques. Applus+ technicians execute Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Examination, two of the most used surface NDT procedures for detecting and quantifying the number of surface-breaking faults.
Aside from these methods, traditional and advanced ultrasonic techniques are being used to analyze and monitor the corrosion levels of various assets. Applus+ is also using computed radiography extensively in this project, saving time spent on each task and giving data in its entirety in digital format.
Large-scale outages can be time-sensitive and stressful, necessitating the skills and experience of qualified professionals.
Because of the quality and speed of the work done by our devoted team of technicians and engineers, Applus+ was chosen as the preferred service provider to complete turnaround tasks.
Due to its decades of experience and documented record of accomplishment of providing testing and inspection support on large-scale outage scopes, Applus+ is the appropriate partner for owner-operator firms and contractors requiring integrity and facility maintenance support.
