Applus+ is conducting Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) and Radiographic Testing (RT) on the replacement segment of an existing pipeline in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
While the new 500 meter pipeline segment is relatively short, the remote location and extreme weather conditions present unique challenges for which Applus+ has implemented increased management and safety measures. Additionally, to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, technicians were required to isolate for two weeks prior to arriving on-site, which is approximately 67 km southeast of the Hamlet of Tulita and only accessible by plane. Applus+’ integrity inspection is ongoing and will allow the pipeline to resume safe operation and prevent future environmental impact.
