Applus+ in Saudi Arabia has recently concluded a certificate distribution campaign to recognize more than 200 team members who successfully completed two critical training modules: Emergency Response Preparedness and Workplace Heat Stress Managemenhttps://www.applus.com/sa/en/what-we-do/service-sheet/hse-ehs-inspectiont – Risk Controls.

These sessions were part of a broader initiative to promote safety awareness and operational readiness for both field and office personnel working on one of Applus+’s major projects in Riyadh.

The training was delivered internally by the Applus+ QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) Department, which plays a vital role in embedding a proactive safety culture across all operations. Drawing on both global best practices and local regulatory requirements, the QHSE team developed tailored content that addressed project-specific risks.

Their approach combined theoretical instruction with practical applications, ensuring participants were not only informed but prepared to apply their knowledge effectively in the workplace. In addition to delivering training, the QHSE team supported risk assessments, facilitated staff engagement, and ensured alignment with client expectations and corporate safety goals.

“Our goal is not just compliance, but fostering a culture where safety is second nature,” said Grant Alexander Agnew, Head of Advisory Services at Applus+. “This training campaign reflects our team’s commitment to equipping staff with the tools they need to act confidently and responsibly on site.”

The project in Riyadh involves both extensive field operations and complex logistical coordination. High summer temperatures, physical demands, and the need for seamless communication across teams make safety awareness all the more critical. Programs focused on emergency preparedness and heat stress risk control are key to managing these challenges.

In alignment with Applus+' broader commitment to safeguarding people and assets, the campaign also included external training on First Aid and Firefighting for staff directly involved in the project. These efforts reflect our proactive approach to risk mitigation and preparedness, ensuring that team members are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to act decisively in emergency scenarios.

The enthusiastic response from team members demonstrated a strong internal culture of safety. Many participants shared feedback during and after the sessions, helping to refine future training modules based on real-world conditions.

This initiative also highlights the vital contributions of internal experts such as Shiras Khader and Ahmed Alsibaee, who were instrumental in delivering the sessions and driving engagement.

Following the success of this initiative, Applus+ plans to expand its internal training offerings with upcoming modules focused on hazard identification, safe work practices, and emergency response drills, continuing our investment in a well-informed, resilient workforce.

By prioritizing continuous learning and reinforcing a safety-first mindset across all levels, Applus+ continues to set the standard for operational excellence and employee development in the Kingdom.
