Applus+ Indonesia reinforces commitment to environmental conservation through Applus+ Giving Back program

09/10/2025

Applus+ is committed to protecting the environment for the benefit of future enerations. Through the Applus+ Giving Back program, we actively support conservation efforts in Ujung Kulon National Park, one of Indonesia’s most important natural reserves. This initiative reflects our dedication to biodiversity protection while also creating sustainable value for both local communities and ecosystems.

Our team recently supported a mangrove conservation initiative on Handeulem Island, Ujung Kulon National Park. The program brought together three members of the Ujung Kulon National Park staff, sixty-six students and teachers from Sekolah Alam Bekasi, and seven representatives of the local community. Together, they participated in a series of activities designed to strengthen awareness, encourage participation, and directly contribute to ecological restoration.

The program was designed to restore the ecological function of mangrove ecosystems in coastal areas while also raising public awareness about the importance of mangrove protection. By doing so, it addressed pressing challenges such as preventing coastal erosion, protecting biodiversity, and strengthening community involvement in environmental preservation.

Throughout the initiative, participants took part in awareness sessions on the value of mangroves, training on planting and maintenance techniques, and hands-on mangrove seedling planting along the coastline. These practical activities were followed by post-planting monitoring and evaluation to ensure the success and sustainability of the restoration efforts. In this way, the program combined immediate environmental action with long-term planning, ensuring that the impact extended well beyond the initial planting.

We are honored to have contributed to a program that not only restores critical ecosystems but also provides education and training for future generations. By engaging students, local communities, and our own teams, the initiative has helped nurture awareness, strengthen local capacity, and inspire future conservation leaders.

We extend our gratitude to the Ujung Kulon National Park Office and Sekolah Alam Bekasi for their collaboration and support in this effort.

Through Applus+ Giving Back, we continue to reinforce our commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). The mangrove conservation initiative in Ujung Kulon National Park stands as a clear example of our dedication to environmental protection, community engagement, and sustainable development in Indonesia.
