Applus+ Welcomes Dr. Paul Huggett to New Materials Centre

    Dr Paul Huggett has joined Applus+ as Materials Manager from December 2017. Paul is a Certified Materials Professional with Materials Australia, and has been consulting principally to the mining and manufacturing industries for the past 20 years in the areas of materials analysis, failure analysis, corrosion, wear and general materials selections and testing.
    Paul’s background includes extensive manufacturing and process knowledge on most types of materials, including metal alloys, ceramics, polymers, elastomers and various composites. A key focus with our work will be in diagnosis of materials related problems, rather than just prescriptive testing and reporting of results. The newly formed Australian Materials Centre within Applus+, based in Perth, also includes the resources and skills to include full mechanical testing, chemical analysis and electron microscopy.
     
    The new Materials Centre will be providing the following services:
    • Weld procedure testing and welder qualification
    • Failure analysis
    • Wear analysis
    • Corrosion analysis
    • Polymer and elastomer degradation
    • Materials analysis and testing
    • R&D Projects specifically tailored to client’s requirements
    • Site based inspection services including PMI, Replication, materials based asset integrity inspections
     
    In-house testing facilities will include:
    • Sample machining and preparation
    • Macro and micro-structural analysis using optical microscopy
    • Scanning electron microscopy
    • Mechanical testing including tensile, compression, bending, hardness
    • Chemical analysis
