Applus+ in Ghana participated in a graduate mentorship program sponsored by Tullow Oil. The program was aimed at developing local talent through the training and development of university graduates.

The curriculum for the training program was developed by the team from Applus+ in Ghana and included a combination of theory, on-the-job training, and peer review sessions. Four candidates were selected to participate in the program, which ran over a period of twenty-two months. The candidates were Ernest Bonney, Charles Karikari Mensah, Henry Green Ackon and Selasi Kwaku Adom. The training curriculum covered various disciplines:

Applus+ participated in the program as part of its commitment to Tullow Oil in Ghana, under a contractual agreement for inspection services. The mentorship program focused on topics that are directly related to the requirements of the contract. The aim of the program was to provide training to the candidates, in order to develop their competency for inspection and prepare them for their future careers.

The candidates were trained in various welding and coating disciplines by Applus+ senior inspectors, and were given the opportunity to shadow the inspectors on various projects in Ghana. This presented an opportunity for the trainees to gain practical experience in the oil and gas sector. The graduates were given further training in various non-destructive testing techniques and had the opportunity to participate in the Ghana Oil & Gas summit. As part of the mentorship program, Applus+ arranged for the trainees to travel to Johannesburg, South Africa and Aberdeen, Scotland to complete the CSWIP 3.1 Welding and BGAS CSWIP Site Coating Inspection Courses.

Kobena Budu Acquah, Country Manager of Applus+ in Ghana stated, “Applus+ is proud to have participated in the Tullow Oil Graduate Mentorship program. Through this program, we were able to nurture local talent and prepare these candidates for their future careers in the oil and gas industry.
