Applus+, among 'Europe’s Climate Leaders 2022', according to 'The Financial Times' and Statista

05/05/2022

Applus+ has been included in the annual Europe’s Climate Leaders 2022 ranking developed by The Financial Times and Statista. The 400 companies in the list are those that have achieved the greatest reduction in the intensity of their Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions over a 5-year period (2015-2020).

Scope 1 and 2 emissions are produced by the company’s own operations and from generating the energy it uses to function. Scope 3 emissions, which are generated along the value chain and account for the bulk of companies’ emissions, have also been disclosed by Applus+, something not all companies choose to do.

Applus+ is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions even further, setting a goal to reduce 30% of its emissions by 2024 compared to 2019, its base year, becoming carbon neutral by 2023 and a net-zero company by 2050.

This year’s list takes into account the rating of performance monitor CDP, as well as our commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative, two organisations that have previously recognised Applus+ efforts to improve in ESG.

Applus+ has been included in this list among other 22 Spanish companies such as Inditex, Banco Santander, Acciona, Iberdrola and Abertis. Some of the featured companies worldwide include corporations like Volkswagen, Nestlé, Accenture, and Ericsson.
