Applus+ Ireland renews contract to deliver taximeter system verification, vehicle inspection and driver testing services to the National Transport Authority

    Applus+ through its Automotive Division in Ireland, has secured the contract to deliver taximeter system verification on behalf of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), as well as public service vehicle inspection and other services for Ireland’s National Transport Authority (NTA).

    Applus+ has successfully delivered these services since April 2014, and this renewed contract will see the continuation of this partnership until 2023.
    The services provided include:
    • Suitability of vehicle assessments for taxis, limousines and hackneys
    • Administration of the driver knowledge test
    • Personal identity verification and image capture
    • Public counter services
    • Enforcement Officer facilities
    The new contract will also include an option for customers to book their suitability and taximeter inspections through a dedicated online booking facility, together with a contact centre for calls and correspondence.
     
    During the term of the contract Applus+ will deliver over 500,000 vehicle inspections and 60,000 driver knowledge tests across the Republic of Ireland, along with 250,000 taximeter verifications.
