Applus+ Laboratories partners Visa in new certification programme for Tap-to-Phone mobile point of sales

10/05/2019
Applus+ IT laboratories in Barcelona and Shanghai have achieved accreditation from Visa to test the functionality and interoperability of Tap-to-Phone mobile applications.
Tap on Phone is a software technology enabling mobile devices, such as phones and tablets, to serve as contactless payment terminals without the need for a special adapter or other device. This new technology is designed to support sales and payments to small businesses, mobile and on-the-go merchants, cultural festivals and sporting events.

Applus+ Laboratories participated in Visa’s pilot programme to develop a secure and reliable environment for this latest technology, and this new security-testing regime includes a certification scheme for payment applications that convert mobile devices into Mobile Point of Sales (mPOS).

Companies planning to develop Tap-to-Phone solutions can now contract Applus+ Laboratories to carry out functional testing (Visa payWave qVSDC) and interoperability testing (Visa cross-testing) required to certify their mPOS product with Visa.

With this new accreditation, Applus+ Laboratories reinforces its position as a global benchmark in payment-solution testing and strengthens our long-standing relationship with Visa.
